DIRECTIONS 2013 (YEAR 9)Career choices at 13-14
Choosing your subjects and courses in Year 8 or Year 9 isn’t always easy. This guide will give you ideas, advice and information to help you on your way. Try to choose options that suit your abilities and interests. Having a good spread of subjects and the best grades you can achieve will increase your opportunities 16+. You will have the chance to choose subjects you enjoy, new subjects, courses you can do well in, options to help your future career plans, and courses that let you learn in a way that suits you.
GETTING STARTED IN CAREERS 2012 (YEAR 9)Information for parents and carers
Choosing subjects for Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) is the first decision your son or daughter will take that may affect career choices in the future. Key Stage 4 is when students study for national qualifications such as GCSEs. Most students will take these in Year 10 and 11 but in some schools students may start these in Year 9. Different courses and qualifications 14-16 are designed to ensure all students can participate fully, develop skills required for the future and gain qualifications.
