KIRKLEES COLLEGEOne of the largest colleges in the country with a vast range of courses and study options to choose from
Kirklees College came into being in August 2008 through a merger between Dewsbury College and Huddersfield Technical College. Both Dewsbury College and Huddersfield Technical College have an illustrious past and, through Kirklees College, a successful future together. Kirklees College is now one of the biggest colleges in the country with a vast range of courses and study options to choose from. Based at the heart of Yorkshire, we have many centres across Kirklees serving the local population, communities and businesses.
HUDDERSFIELD NEW COLLEGERecognising how exciting the move is from school to college
Huddersfield New College is a specialist sixth form college which caters exclusively for young people in the 16-18 age range. We are one of the most successful inclusive sixth form colleges in the country and attract an increasing number of students each year. There are now more than 2,300 students on roll. It provides a structured and supportive environment in which young people can develop as confident and independent learners and realise their true potential.
GREENHEAD COLLEGEAiming to help you choose subjects in which you will achieve success and help you move on to your desired career path
Greenhead College is a nationally acclaimed sixth form college on a very attractive site close to Huddersfield town centre. It provides full-time advanced courses (A-level and Applied GCE) for students aged 16-19. Its excellent examination results are outstanding for a college of its type, placing it near the top of many A-level performance tables and first in the ‘Sunday Times Parent Power’ top 50 sixth-form colleges table for 2009. In October 2004 it was re-named a Beacon college and the 2007 Ofsted inspection report remarked that “The quality of provision is outstanding and has improved further on the high standards reported in the 2004 inspection.”
HECKMONDWIKE GRAMMAR SCHOOLOutstanding teaching and pastoral support with a wide range of AS and A-level courses on offer
Heckmondwike Grammar School is proud of its reputation and the successes which its pupils have achieved here over the years. Despite recent changes to the structure of education much remains as before. It is now an academy which means it is still a state funded grammar school providing free education. The school’s vision is for a school in which pupils feel happy and safe and are challenged and supported to achieve the highest possible academic standards. They are encouraged to participate and excel in a wide range of creative, sporting and cultural fields. They will develop the skills and qualities that will make them healthy, adaptable, responsible citizens of the future and enable them to make a profound contribution. Heckmondwike Grammar School has a very dedicated and well qualified staff. Most importantly the partnership between staff, parents and pupils, always strong in the past, continues to flourish and is a vital factor in sustaining the purposeful working atmosphere which exists throughout the school.
ST JOHN FISHER CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOLFirst and foremost a Catholic School
At St. John Fisher, ensuring spiritual, religious and moral development are key parts of the curriculum. As all knowledge is God given however, the duty to develop students in all curriculum areas is stressed. To prepare our students for adult life, they are offered every opportunity to develop intellectually, socially, culturally and physically. Catholic schools do not exist to take full responsibility for the growth of our young people. Parents are the first educators and the school has the duty to support parents in their task.
SHELLEY COLLEGEShelley College is a special place to study, work or even just visit
Shelley College is a special place to study, work or even just visit. Firstly, the students, whose behaviour is outstanding and their achievements are genuinely something to be proud about. The college has devoted considerable effort to recognising their talents and efforts through a very well established Positive Behaviour system. Our aim is for all members of our community to “Enjoy, Achieve and Inspire Others” and believe students can do all of these things on a daily basis. It encourages all students to act responsibly and help them to become mature, independent young people. Given such positive attitudes from the students, it is no surprise that the college enjoys considerable success in academic and extra-curricular pursuits. The college very much believes in the potential of its students, who thrive in the caring environment.
